Following the success of our first “Innovation Challenge” in 2019, a group of 60 IT professionals at ADIA were recently selected for the second event, to be held over 60 days. Their task: Identify areas across the organisation that could benefit from the application of lean principles and develop solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce the need for central IT support. The LEAN methodology, developed by Toyota in the 1980s, seeks to maximize value and eliminate waste.

For the second year in a row, machine learning (ML) was leveraged by the winning team. By first overcoming certain technical barriers associated with ML, the team was able to further incorporate advanced analytics into ADIA’s investment process to better predict and manage performance.

An idea that was born through the creative thinking of a few individuals has now been fully integrated into ADIA’s investment process, demonstrating the lasting impact of the 60-day challenge.
