What happens when a global pandemic strikes and international flights are grounded?

This was the challenge that ADIA faced, as it sought to ensure that its ongoing resourcing needs were met. Its solution: a “Virtual Abu Dhabi Experience” or VADE.

Developed by ADIA’s Onboarding and Recruitment teams over the course of a few weeks in March and April, the VADE provides potential candidates with a multi-media tour of life at ADIA, and Abu Dhabi more broadly. It includes detailed information on key areas such as housing, schooling and medical facilities within the Emirate.

A dedicated team hosts the VADE, which is delivered via Microsoft Teams to candidates and, in many cases, also their families. This is then followed by an extensive discussion during which candidates’ questions across diverse areas are addressed fully.

Since its launch in April, 26 candidates from 17 different countries have been guided through the VADE experience and the feedback has been uniformly positive.

While visits to Abu Dhabi are impossible to fully replicate, the virtual approach has certain advantages. The VADE is delivered in the comfort of candidates’ homes, with minimal distractions, enabling them to develop a clear impression of what their life will be like, even before visiting the city in person. It also enables them to delve more deeply into specific areas of interest when they do eventually arrive for interviews.
